Ichiro Misaki (岬 一郎, Misaki Ichiro) is a painter from Japan and a minor character of the Captain Tsubasa series.

Description[]

He first appeared in the Captain Tsubasa arc. He's the father of Taro Misaki and former husband of Yumiko Yamaoka.

Biography[]

Ichiro is a landscape painter with potential world-class talent, but it took him years to develop a sizable fame. 11 years prior to Boku wa Misaki Taro, he and his wife Yumiko divorced, with Ichiro getting the custody of their son Taro.

Because of Ichiro's job, Taro had to change school constantly and couldn't have friends for long. However, Ichiro always chose places where there were strong football teams, or where football is popular, to travel to. This allowed Taro to play and keep making new friends.

Boku wa Misaki Taro[]

During one of Ichiro's exhibitions, as they were talking about Ichiro's wish to go to France to study the arts, Ichigo's sponsor Shimonari suggested to leave Taro in the care of someone else. That "someone else" turned out to be Yumiko, who had discussed with Shimonari before, and also wanted to take care of Taro. That night, Ichiro told Taro about the matter, and said that it might the best for Taro's sake. They then agreed to go see Yumiko after Nishimine's upcoming match; he says it's because all through these years, he has felt that Taro was unable to have steady friendships due to their travelling and that he's done nothing for his son.

During the match, when Mitsuru's mother arrived and attempted to prevent him from playing, Ichiro stopped her. He then told her that letting the child do as they want is also part of a parent's duty. This made her eventually see Mitsuru's joy when playing football.

Later, when Ichiro brought Taro to the Yamaoka residence, Taro told Ichiro that he preferred going to France with him, saying "I am Taro Misaki, not Taro Yamaoka" (hence the title of the one-shot). Remembering the words that he told Mitsuru's mother earlier, Ichiro agree to let Taro accompany him.

J Boys' Challenge[]

After watching Taro play in the International Jr. Youth tournament, Ichiro decided to go back to Japan to paint Mt. Fuji, something he didn't have the confidence to do earlier. This allowed Taro to stay in Nankatsu City afterwards.

Battle of World Youth[]

Ichiro's work on Mt. Fuji had earned Japan's paintings 1st prize. Later, as Taro was evicted from the Japanese youth team by Minato Gamo, Taro travelled around the world to absorb the football from as many countries as possible. The trip was funded by Ichiro.

When Taro suffered a serious injury from a traffic accident, Yumiko asked Ichiro if he'd let her look after Taro until he can stand on the field again. Ichiro left the decision to Taro, and this time, Taro agreed to be in his mother's care.

Boku wa Misaki Taro 2[]

Ichiro became successful and was able to have a big art exhibition, which he invited the Yamaoka family to. He then learned from Yumiko that her family intended to travel to Spain afterwards, in order to cheer for Taro, who was participating in the Madrid Olympics. Ichiro then asked her to support Taro in his place as well, since he was unable to go.
