The club's motto is "You'll Never Walk Alone" after the song from Carousel that was later covered by Merseybeat group Gerry and the Pacemakers. The Gerry and the Pacemakers version is played and sung by supporters before home games and after victories, and the list of clubs who have also adopted it as their song include Celtic, Borussia Dortmund and FC Tokyo.
